BOB AND MIKE BRYAN ANNOUNCE TIE-IN WITH ESURANCE AT USTA’S SMASHZONE MOBILE TOUR IN AUSTIN, TEXAS
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., July 6, 2011 – The USTA announced today that Bob and Mike Bryan took part in a clinic for members of five local USTA National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) chapters, in conjunction with an appearance in Austin, Texas, by the USTA’s SmashZone Mobile Tour and their partnership announcement with one of SmashZone Mobile’s sponsors, Esurance.
The Bryans are the world’s top-ranked doubles team and members of the U.S. Davis Cup team that hosts Spain this weekend in Austin.
“Partnering with the Bryan Brothers is the perfect complement to our ongoing support of the USTA and sponsorship of the US Open and SmashZone Mobile Tour,” said Esurance Vice President of Marketing Darren Howard. “It was a great experience today to be a part of Smashzone Mobile Tour and watch the kids get a chance to meet Bob and Mike, and have some fun with the best doubles team in the world.”
SmashZone Mobile, the interactive tennis experience is anchored by a 53-foot trailer surrounded by two 36-foot courts and two 60-foot courts. SmashZone offers a variety of tennis-related activities and informational kiosks to educate both kids and parents on the benefits of the USTA’s 10 and Under Tennis initiative, including a kid-sized “Champion of the Court” experience presented by Esurance.
Prior to opening SmashZone Mobile to the Austin public, Bob and Mike Bryan made an appearance to announce a sponsorship deal with Esurance, and to participate in activities with children from five NJTL chapters, including the Central Texas Tennis Association, Set to Serve, Lost Creek Country Club, and Lago Vista, as well as wheelchair tennis players from Seton Adaptive Sports.
Following their appearance at SmashZone Mobile, the Bryan Brothers rejoined their Davis Cup teammates for an open practice session that was immediately followed by an open practice session for the Spanish Davis Cup team.
The Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Quarterfinal between the U.S. and Spain will be played at the Frank Erwin Center on The University of Texas campus in Austin, Texas, July 8-10.
