British Liam Broady threw his arms in the air after defeating Australia’s Jason Kubler, 6-4 6-3 on Court Three. Broady is seeded No. 15 in the Boy’s Singles Event.
If Liam lifts the trophy, he will be the first male to win the event since 1962. The British left-hander said, “It’s been great. I’m really starting to enjoy it with so many people behind me. It’s a fantastic atmosphere. After Nottingham I came to the men’s qualifying and got a good result there. I then won the junior pre-Wimbledon event and my game continues to improve with every match.”
Focusing on the Final, he said, “Obviously I’m pretty excited. I’ll try and get a good night’s sleep and get ready for my match by having a practice with my coach.”
The Kubler vs. Broady match was the first junior match in Wimbledon’s history to be played on Court Three.
Broady’s opponent will be Luke Saville of Australia. Saville had an easy win over Kaichi Uchida of Japan, 6-4 6-1.
The No. 16 seeded Aussie said, “I’m really playing well. I’ve played Broady a long time ago on clay but it’s Wimbledon and there’s a Brit in the final. He’ll be up for it and so will I. I am expecting the crowd to be behind him, I’ll just have to cop it on the chin and just play my own game.”
