The Chinese tennis revolution is set to continue with Shuai Peng’s excellent run of form in this year’s Championships. Continuing on from Na Li’s French Open success on the women’s tour, Chinese women are bound to be holding up more silver wear in years to come.
25-year-old Shuai Peng from China will continue her run against Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon.
Peng has reached third round twice before in 2006 and 2008. In 2007 she was a quarter finalist in the doubles event.
Shuai plays double handed on both sides and hits the ball the ball very flat. She is known for her stamina and her speed around the court.
The world No. 20 beat Hungarian left-hander Melinda Czink from Hungary 6-2 7-6 (5) in the third round. Czink had a surprise win the first round beating Australia’s Sam Stosur.
It’s going to be difficult to beat Maria Sharapova on Monday. The Sharapova vs. Peng match is scheduled at 12.00 pm on Monday on Court Two. Sharapova was asked if she had a problem playing on Court Two but she said, “I have no problem playing on Court 2 or 3. I think they’re pretty big courts. I actually played on Court 2 in my first round.”
