Seventeen-year-old Kyle McPhillips, the 2011 Easter Bowl champion, lead an ensemble of five Americans into the second round of the ResortQuest Pro Women’s Open at Sea Colony in Bethany Beach, DE.  The blue-chipper standout player from Willoughby, Ohio fought back from a 4-6 first set deficit to regroup with great all-court patience and prudence to win 12 of the last 14 games. McPhillips showed signs of seasoned proficiency, calling upon the experience that took to the finals of two USTA Pro Circuit events in Cleveland, OH & Landisville, PA, as she prevailed 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 over eighteen-year-old Xin Wen of China.

Number 2 seed Lena Litvak, a Ukraine native who played at Harvard before turning professional, had an easier day at the office as she posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory over  University of Iowa bound Shelby Talcott of Long Island, NY.
