NESTOR REACHES SECOND STRAIGHT FRENCH OPEN FINAL
Montreal, June 2, 2011 – Daniel Nestor (Toronto, ON) will defend his French Open title on the weekend with partner Max Mirnyi of Belarus after the second-seeded pair defeated France’s Michael Llodra and Nestor’s former partner Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia 7-6(4), 7-6(5) in the semifinals on Thursday in Paris.
With the win, Nestor has now reached the Roland-Garros final four of the last five years and sixth overall. He was crowned champion last year for the second time alongside Zimonjic. The 38-year-old Canadian, who won the 800th doubles match of his career earlier in the tournament, will be attempting to win his seventh Grand Slam title to go along with the Olympic Gold medal he won at the 2000 Sydney Games.
In the final, Nestor and Mirnyi will meet Juan Sebastian Cabal of Colombia and Argentine Eduardo Schwank who defeated the top-ranked Bryan brothers in Thursday’s second semifinal.

Montréal, le 2 juin 2011 – Au cours du week-end, Daniel Nestor (Toronto, ON) aura l’occasion de défendre son titre de Roland-Garros avec son partenaire Max Mirnyi, du Belarus. En effet, les deuxièmes têtes de série du double ont signé un gain de 7-6(4) et 7-6(5) aux dépens du Français Michael Llodra et du Serbe Nenad Zimonjic, ancien coéquipier de Nestor, lors de la demi-finale de jeudi, à Paris.
Grâce à cette victoire, Nestor accède à la finale de Roland-Garros pour la quatrième fois en cinq ans et pour la sixième fois de sa carrière. L’an dernier, il avait mis la main sur son deuxième trophée parisien en compagnie de Zimonjic. Au début de la quinzaine, le Canadien, qui est âgé de 38 ans, avait remporté son 800e match de double et tentera maintenant d’ajouter une septième couronne du Grand Chelem à son tableau de chasse qui comprend également la médaille d’or des Jeux olympiques de 2000 de Sydney.
En finale, Nestor et Mirnyi se mesureront au Colombien Juan Sebastian Cabal et à l’Argentin Eduardo Schwank, tombeurs des frères Bryan, favoris de l’épreuve, lors de la deuxième demi-finale de jeudi.
