Final Facts

– Goerges wins her second WTA singles title, having won the first on clay outdoors at Bad Gastein last July. The 22-year-old is now 2-1 in WTA finals; she was runner-up indoors at Luxembourg last October.
– World No.32 Goerges is the second German ever to win what is the oldest European indoor tournament: Anke Huber  won in 1991 and 1994. Steffi Graf never won the event, but was runner-up in 1984. Huber was also runner-up in 1996.
– Goerges is projected to make her Top 30 debut on Monday’s rankings, joining Andrea Petkovic in that bracket. The last time two Germans were ranked in the Top 30 was in August 1999.
– Wozniacki, still gunning for her first red clay title, is now 15-10 in WTA finals (3-2 in 2011).
– Lisicki and Stosur win their first doubles title together on their first outing as a team. Lisicki was playing her first WTA doubles final, while Stosur now has 23 doubles titles to her name.

Final Quotes
Julia Goerges, 2011 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix singles champion:
“It was an unbelievable feeling playing the final with so many people watching, and I had goosebumps at match point. Everything was going so well, but you can never be sure against Caroline… she never gives up and has turned lots of matches around. Then I couldn’t quite grasp what I had done, but slowly it sank in – naturally when I sat in the car it helped! I think I can be proud of myself, and it’s been a super week for the German women. Now we have to keep it up week to week. I think if we keep having the experience of playing against the top players, we can do it.”

Caroline Wozniacki, 2011 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix singles runner-up:

“Julia played really well. She was very aggressive and everything was going in. I tried everything but it wasn’t enough. I’ll go back to the practice court and try to be better next time. I also want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting me, even though I was playing against Julia! Hopefully next year I’ll come away with this Porsche.”

Sabine Lisicki, 2011 Porsche Tennis Grand prix doubles champion:

“It was my first doubles final ever. It was an amazing first week playing with Sam and winning it in my home country. We had a very tough draw but we played very well and obviously we wanted the trophy!”

Samantha Stosur, 2011 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix doubles champion:
“She’s always laughing and smiling, there’s no chance to be down. We might pair up again somewhere. It was a lot of fun here this week so hopefully it’ll work out!”
