The Cellular South Cup announces Catherine Harrison as a wild card in its main draw. Harrison, a Germantown native will be competing on her home court for the second year in a row. In 2010, she received a wildcard into the qualifiers and exited in the first round after a loss to veteran Angela Haynes.
This past June Harrison competed in the USTA Girl’s 18 National Clay Court Championships at the Racquet Club and reached the semifinals. And this isn’t the only good result Harrison accomplished in 2010. She won her age division at the USTA National Opens, Southern BG18 Closed, and the Bullfrog Southern DES. Additionally, she reached the finals in the Dunlap Orange Bowl Amateurs, an event that draws an International field.
“I’m really, really excited, “said the young player. “I played well throughout all of last year, had a really good summer, and finished strong at the Orange Bowl.”
