A total of 80,000 euros have been raised for the Curie Institute cancer research centre thanks to the inaugural ‘Amélie night’. This represents a great success for the event that brought celebrities and former players together on the tennis court.
The aim of the event was simple: provide an evening of entertaining tennis and raise money for charity. As such, and for the first time in the history of the Open GDF SUEZ, Monday played host to ‘Amélie night’, an event organised by former player and tournament co-director Amélie Mauresmo.
Mauresmo, a Curie Institute patron for a number of years, was determined to support the foundation by creating this event and made it a success by pairing celebrities with ex-players and putting them out on court together.
The event was such a success that a cheque for 80,000 euros can now be written out and handed to the Curie Institute.
