Ivan Dodig claims Zagreb title

Ivan Dodig beat Michael Berrer yesterday to win his first ATP Tour title at the PBZ Zagreb Indoors 2011. Dodig won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.

Dodig has never been past a semifinal of an ATP Tour event before. On his way to the final he took out the No.2 seed Ivan Ljubicic, and the No.3 seed Guillermo Garcia- Lopez.

“This is the best thing that can happen to a player, to play at home in front of your own crowd and win your first title. I’m really happy and enjoying the moment. It’s been amazing all week,” Dodig said.

Berrer said his final performance was not up to scratch but he complimented his opponent saying, “He played at a good level. He was serving like his mentor Goran Ivanisevic.”
