With the season-ending WTA Championships moving there this year, Turkey, and more specifically Istanbul, will quickly become the talk of the WTA tennis season, as the biggest stars of women’s tennis set their sights on one of the most fascinating and historic cities in the world.
Ipek Senoglu – the first Turk ever to play in a qualifying tournament for a Grand Slam (Wimbledon doubles qualifying in 2004) as well as the first Turk ever to play the main draw of a Grand Slam (US Open doubles in 2004) will be helping promote the tournament, including writing a monthly blog and sending photos.
Senoglu recently took to the other side of the lens for a photo shoot for Harper’s Bazaar: “When Harper’s Bazaar asked me to do a photo shoot for their Turkish edition, of course I accepted. They had just done similar interviews with Serena in the USA and Vera Zvonareva in Russia. Since they are one of the best women’s magazines in the world, I knew everything would be professional.
“It was a totally great experience to work with such professionals and to have a closer look into their world, which is very different from tennis. I had a lot of fun and learnt a lot about how to look better! I believe it all turned out really well.”

Senoglu also holds the record for highest ranking, singles or doubles, for any Turk, male or female – her career-high doubles ranking is No.53.
Clothing was Versace at Harvey Nichols, Herve Leger and Paul & Joe. Shoes were Prada and Alejandro Ingelmo. Photos were by JAMTUL and the fashion editor was Duygu Antiparmak. The interview was by Okan Can Yantir.
