Frenchman Arnaud Clement was not able to play in the second round of the PBZ Zagreb Indoors due to sholder injury. A few minutes before scheduled start against his countryman Richard Gasquet (pictured) he withdrew from the event in both singles and doubles competition.

After having the bye in the first round it ment that Gasquet went through another round without playing a single point.

“Arnaud is a friend of mine, I hope it’s nothing serious with the injury. I did not know anything about it and was quite surprised when he told me about withdrawal. It happened two minutes before going on court”, Gasquet said.

In the quarterfinals on Friday he will play against German Michael Berrer.

“This is the first time that I start tournament on Friday. It can be a handicap also, because you gain confidence winning matches”, said Gasquet, who had 60-minutes practice on the centre court. “I had to, because I wanted to feel the court, to see the ball bounce. I liked what I saw”, Gasquet said.

American Alex Bogomolov Jr. continued his run from the qualifying reaching the quarterfinals by beating seventh-seeded German Philipp Petzschner by 6:1, 6:2.
