Wozniacki, Sharapova and Federer to play on day one at Aussie Open 2011

The glamour girls of world tennis, world No.1 Caroline Wozniacki and 2008 Australian Open champion Maria Sharapova, will join defending champion Roger Federer to open day one action on Rod Laver Arena.

No.14 seed Sharapova meets Thailand’s Tamarine Tanasugarn, with Wozniacki facing the world’s top doubles player, Argentine Gisela Dulko.

Defending champion and world No.2 Roger Federer rounds out the day session, opening his campaign against 23 year-old Slovakian Lukas Lacko.

Jarmila Groth kicks off the night session on RLA against dangerous Belgian, No.21 seed Yanina Wickmayer. Groth was in lethal form at the Brisbane International, dispatching Sam Stosur in the second round, and is currently in the final of the Moorilla Hobart International.

Novak Djokovic has his eye on a second Australian Open title after winning his only grand crown here in 2008. The No.3 seed will take on Spain’sMarcel Granollers.

Hisense Arena hosts five of the games’ biggest personalities in what will be amazing value for a $49 ticket.

Gael ‘Spiderman’ Monfils, the No.12 seed, plays world No.46 Thiemo De Bakker from the Netherlands, followed by No.8 Andy Roddick who is up against Jan Hajek from the Czech Republic.

Fourth seeded Venus Williams will meet 23 year-old Sara Errani, a member of Italy’s champion Fed Cup team.

The final match of the day will feature seven time Grand Slam title winner and 2010 Australian Open finalist Justine Henin who will open against a qualifier.
