Day 5 Melbourne  |

Last night was a great night at the concert and the sunset alone was worth the visit as was the dinner after with Mats and Peter!

Yes Sunday the day before the opening day! At the French they start on the Sunday instead but honestly I prefer this Monday as it is tradition and tennis needs to stick to some as it is the strength of the sport!

This morning we (the Adidas player development team, Gil Reyes, Daren Cahill, Mats Merkel, Claus Marten, Toby Glyn and myself) had a breakfast meeting with Ian Thorpe (the great Olympic and world Champion swimmer) to exchange some ideas and explain what we do in our program!

At 10 we had a last prep practice with Caroline in her warm-up for tomorrow’s match with Gisele Dulko! (She will play 2nd after 11 on Centre Court).

We had to rush back to the hotel for our Adidas player presentation that is a yearly returning event where we meet and greet the players, agents, coaches and family members to wish them well for the new year and present some new plans for the coming season! During the presentation the press gets a chance to meet with some of the players before the big showdown! At the end we serve a nice lunch and enjoy a little catch up with those that we have not seen during the week!

Afterwards we caught up in the distribution room where we get the new product for this season! We will get new gear again at the French open!

Now back at the courts for 2 practice sessions (1 with Sorana Cirstea and 1 with Ayumi Morita and Maria Kirilenko)!

Today was the last day of qualies and I want to congratulate Aranxta Rus and Sania Mirza for qualifying and Thomas Schoorel for reaching the last round but unfortunately he lost against our former Adidas player Grigor Dimitrov!

The Timer is set for a countdown to the show time tomorrow!
