In the second match on Center Court, on the second day of the 2011 Aircel Chennai Open, Tomas Berdych (CZE) defeated Frederico Gil (POR) 6-0; 6-1.

In the first set, Tomas Berdych, served out to win the set 6-0. The Czech republican swept away Frederico Gil yet again in the second set 6-1, breaking serve and pulling out 2 Aces. Tomas Berdych, currently ranked World No 6, said, “I was really looking forward to start the first match of the season. I played slowly and quite aggressive as well. I’m pretty used to the heat in Chennai, so I was comfortable playing the game. I enjoy the crowd in Chennai as they love to come back and support me.”
