Brrrrrr
The innovative marketing brains behind this event took full advantage of the cold snap descending on London, advertising ATP World Tour scarves from the minute you descended the tube. Savvy.
The other Muzza…
Newly-wed Jamie Murray paid a visit to the O2 today, helping kids try out the activities in the Highland Spring Hot Shots zone. Watched by mother Judy and new wife Alejandra, Jamie held a masterclass with some wee ones in the morning, before taking on Britain’s youngsters in the battle of the sponge balls.
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit
A few people were surprised when Andy Murray came into his press conference last night and announced he didn’t have a chance against Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals on Saturday, should the two meet. “I always tend to lose against him in the big matches,” Murray said. It now turns out that the Brit was being sarcastic. “If sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, why don’t smart people get it? Or are they smart?” he tweeted. Who knew.
Temper, temper
All Rafael Nadal had to do today to earn himself a place in the semi-finals was to show up against Tomas Berdych. But towards the end of the first set, the Spaniard looked like he was on the verge of storming off after a hawk-eye challenge didn’t go his way. Deary me. Needless to say winning the tie-break cheered him up, and he roared through the second set 6-1. Fire in the belly.
More celebs
Yes, there were yet more famous faces at the O2 today. Bradley James, also known as Prince Arthur in the hit BBC series ‘Merlin, was seated in Nadal’s box, alongside Pat Cash, and friend and co-actor, Rupert Young, who plays Sir Leon. And yes, Diego Maradona was there too. Old news.
What a confession
It turns out that Boris Becker, who was one of the freshest-faced 17-year-olds around, has had a facelift. Oh Boris…
