10sballs.com is a huge fan of Esther and somehow today we came across a 17 year old Esther in an old issue of TennisWeek (Nov 26, 1998). Wow! It says she surprised the defending champion and top seed Daniela Di Toro to capture the singles title…and the dubs with Sonja Peters. Was that the beginning of the streak? Esther, team Sven is behind you 100 percent!! Good luck.

Time to say adios to Carlos Moya. He reached number one. He was always such a gracious champion win or lose. We will miss his beautiful style of play…and his beautiful spirit. Please stay in tennis in some form…

Watching more Tennis Channel. The series “best of five,” had a story on Karsten Braasch. He smoked on changeovers. The ATP had to implement a no smoking rule. I remember one year at Charlie Pasarell’s tourney at the Hyatt: Karsten lost  to my buddy Derrick Rostagno ,who could beat anyone on the right day, but that day Derrick beat Karsten. I don’t remember the score. I remember it was a battle and the last match on clubhouse court for the session. I remember seeing poor Karsten sitting in same spot on side of court almost three-four hours later. My guess was…he was still replaying it in his head…

Max Mirnyi. 10sballs.com owes you and Mahesh some dinners at VAMA. Big congrats again!!! You’ve always worked so hard. We are all so proud of you. Big hug and hello to Nicolai.

Just reading about the super seniors. Wow. Tennis is a sport for a lifetime. 71 teams entered in the 60 and over and 40 teams entered in 70 plus. I’m really impressed. Please read full stories on wheelchair event in Amsterdam. And the senior event on the site.

I’m gonna close with a shout out to Richard Krajicek. Richard: there’s so much talent in those puppies from your country. They give 95 to 99 percent. They don’t get that  you gave 100 percent, 100 percent of the time. 10sballs.com loves your event in Rotterdam. How lucky tennis is that you’ve stayed in our sport. Bravo dear big guy! And a belated happy birthday to Daphne Deckers…probably still the most beautiful woman in the country.

TENNIS GOSSIP FROM THE 2018 U.S. OPEN • WTA | ATP • FEDERER HAS PLAYED 1,424 MATCHES WITHOUT A “RETIREMENT”

The only way to describe this U.S. open is soaking wet without raining... It's really hard to play tennis when your socks are soaking wet and you are "sloshing" in your shoes. Your shoes get really heavy when they get wet.
