By beating Petra Kvitova in a third-round match in Beijing Caroline Wozniacki will take over the world number one spot in the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour rankings from Serena Williams. Wozniacki will become the 20th player to hold the number one ranking. Serena Williams has not played since winning Wimbledon in July. She cut her foot in Germany shortly after her victory, then underwent surgery to repair the damage.
–Throughout the year, 10sBalls.com’s Top Coach award winner and co-founder of Orangecoach.com, Sven Groeneveld, has helped coach Caroline and we would like to congratulate him on getting another player to #1. He is truly deserving of the Top Coach award, but he could not have done it without the best assistant within the tennis world-Mats Merkel. Congrats to the both of you and to Caroline for this great achievement!
