Mardy Fish exited Wimbledon ranked in the low 70s, with a newfound fitness but still lacking results. Then came this summer: The 28-year-old American has gone 19-2 since Wimbledon and enters today’s fourth round match against Novak Djokovic looking to equal his best-ever result at a Grand Slam event. It will be no easy task, however, as Djokovic owns a 4-0 record against Fish and has excelled at the Open, advancing to the semifinals or better here each of the last three years. On the women’s side, two of the pre-tournament favorites meet early on, with a dominant Maria Sharapova (who has dropped three games in her last two matches) meeting an even more dominant Caroline Wozniacki (who has dropped three games thus far in the tournament) in a highly anticipated fourth round matchup. A victory by Sharapova would bode well for her chances going forward—both times she has defeated a No. 1 seed at a Grand Slam, she has gone on to take the title (2006 US Open and 2008 Australian Open).
