Billie Jean King to Highlight Four Decades of Champions
The 2010 Bank of the West Classic, celebrating it’s 40th year, will honor four decades of champions in a ceremony prior to the evening semifinal match on Saturday, July 31. The event will feature an appearance by tennis legend Billie Jean King who won the tournament three times including its inaugural year in 1971.

The 2010 Bank of the West Classic announced its top-8 seeds for this year’s tournament which begins on Monday, July 26. The No. 1 seed will be French Open finalist Samantha Stosur while 2008 Olympic gold medalist Elena Dementieva will be seeded No. 2. Three-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova is seeded sixth.
